Employer of Record Services:
Optimizing Nearshoring for Fintech Growth

The case study shows the ability to deliver effective EOR services that support nearshoring strategies for fintech and banking companies. By providing a compliant and strategic hiring solution, PRODENSA enabled the client to build a strong, remote technology team in Mexico, contributing to their overall growth and operational efficiency.

Overview

A U.S.‑based banking and fintech startup sought to nearshore their technology teams to Mexico to address time zone complications and reduce operational costs. As part of their growth strategy, the company planned to incorporate a future entity in Mexico to increase assets and overall value. To facilitate this transition, they engaged PRODENSA to provide Employer of Record (EOR) services, ensuring smooth hiring, payroll management, and legal compliance for their remote teams. The project has been ongoing for three months, with plans for continued expansion.

Project Stages

Analysis

PRODENSA initiated the project with a detailed analysis of the CLIENT’s needs, focusing on the complexities of hiring in Mexico’s labour market. This stage involved understanding the specific skills required, identifying potential challenges, and developing a tailored hiring strategy that aligned with the CLIENT’s goals.

Candidate Search

Based on the analysis, PRODENSA conducted a targeted search for candidates with the necessary skills and experience to meet the CLIENT’s demands. The recruitment process was designed to attract top talent in Mexico, ensuring that the CLIENT could build a strong remote team.

Hiring in EOR Mode

Once the candidates were selected, PRODENSA managed the hiring process under the EOR model. This included handling all aspects of employment, from contracts to onboarding, and ensuring compliance with Mexican labor laws and U.S.‑Mexico foreign trade regulations.

Running Project: Payroll & Legal Compliance

PRODENSA took full responsibility for payroll administration, legal compliance, and addressing any issues that arose during the project. Regular consultations with the CLIENT, including frequent meetings with their CFO and CHRO, ensured that the hiring strategy and employee engagement efforts remained aligned with the CLIENT’s objectives.

Challenges & Solutions

  • High Demand for Tech Talent in Mexico: The CLIENT faced challenges in recruiting skilled resources in a highly competitive market.
  • Solution: PRODENSA supported the CLIENT in creating a strategic hiring plan, focusing on sourcing high‑demand skills and developing tailored development plans for new hires. This proactive approach helped secure top talent in a competitive landscape.

Project Outcome

PRODENSA’s EOR solution enabled the CLIENT to build and scale a remote technology team in Mexico, starting with 25 employees and planning further growth as the teams collaborate on more global projects. The EOR model ensured full compliance with Mexican labor laws and foreign trade regulations, allowing the CLIENT to focus on their core business operations. Despite discussions about creating their own independent operation in Mexico, the CLIENT continues to prefer the EOR model due to the ongoing advisory and support provided by PRODENSA.
